Job Description
We are seeking a visionary Senior Data Engineer to join the core technical team for the 2026 Winter Olympics. This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to architect and implement high-scale data solutions that will process real-time data from millions of fans, athletes, and events globally.
As a key member of the 2026 Organizing Committee, you will be responsible for ensuring the integrity, availability, and scalability of our data infrastructure, enabling world-class analytics and fan engagement experiences.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement robust, scalable data pipelines to ingest and process high-velocity sports data and fan engagement metrics.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop real-time dashboards and analytics tools for Olympic stakeholders.
- Ensure data quality and governance standards are met across all 2026 projects.
- Optimize database performance and manage cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP) for high-traffic events.
- Mentor junior data engineers and establish best practices for big data processing.
- Secure sensitive athlete and attendee data in compliance with international privacy regulations.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering, with a strong focus on big data technologies.
- Proficiency in Python, Spark, SQL, and NoSQL databases.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Strong understanding of data warehousing and ETL/ELT processes.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Experience working on large-scale public events or infrastructure projects is a plus.
