Responsibilities
- Design and implement novel quantum error correction protocols for scalable qubit systems
- Develop hybrid quantum-classical algorithms for optimization problems in logistics and drug discovery
- Lead cross-functional teams of physicists and software engineers on 5-year research roadmaps
- Author peer-reviewed publications and secure NSF/DOE grants for quantum computing initiatives
- Maintain proficiency in emerging quantum hardware architectures (superconducting, trapped ion)
- Mentor PhD candidates and contribute to quantum education curricula at UT Austin
Qualifications
- PhD in Physics, Computer Science, or Quantum Information Science
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with quantum circuit simulation frameworks (Qiskit, Cirq)
- Published research in top-tier quantum computing journals (Science, Nature)
- Proficiency in low-level quantum assembly languages and cryogenic engineering principles
- Demonstrated ability to secure federal research grants ($500k+ preferred)
- Expertise in machine learning for quantum system optimization
- Strong background in topological quantum computing theories
